Born in Canada to Jamaican Parents, Mel Dube grew up immersed in Jamaican Culture from an early age.
Developing her sound performing in school through Music Theater & Jazz she combines passion with powerful vocals that merge neo-soul and Reggae in a melodic pop fusion.
In 2015 Mel released her hit single Extra Side,a food inspired Lovers Rock/Rubadub track originally produced by Wayne Young aka Ras Demo during his time in Canada.
This single would be chosen to feature on Music 311 – a new phone system initiative managed by the City of Toronto that spotlighted local indie artists and connected them with millions of listeners in her hometown.
During 2017 Mel linked up with UK based Roots & Bass Label Totally Dubwise Recordings to work on a remake of her hit single "Extra Side" with multi award winning Canadian producer Dubmatix, alongside a Drum n Bass/Jungle remix by the UK production duo Frisk & Solstice.
