Tippa Irie was born to Jamaican parents in South London &
began his journey as a dancehall toaster on his father's Reggae  Sound system while in high school.
After graduating he would go on to work on the mighty Saxon Sound, one of the UKs pioneering Sound Systems which came to prominence in the early 80s because of the "fast chat" style which was pioneered by  deejay Peter King.

After a series of successful singles on the Greensleeves label, he released his first major hit "Hello Darling," which is what really launched his career.
Mad Professor produced his next album, Rebel on the Roots Corner,
As well as releasing a steady flow of Reggae, Dancehall & Rubadub Tippa is also no stranger to the world of Jungle & Drum n Bass, featuring on releases from Totally Dubwise Recordings & Hot Cakes  working alongside producers like Marcus Visionary & Deekline
